A few months ago, Amazon’s cloud went through repeated areas of turbulence (on April 21st and August 7th) causing outages for many online services. This week, Amazon announced that it would be starting a round of scheduled maintenance of EC2 instances which caused a stir in the Twittersphere. The maintenance window is 6 hours long.
