Frequently Asked Questions
Q : Aren't many companies reluctant to share data which may provide them with a competitive edge?
A : Pooling information enables IT organizations to gain insights
which would be impossible without open collaboration. Our customers
recognize that having access to the collective intelligence of millions of end-users
is more valuable than hoarding a tiny fraction of the whole.
Q : Aren't delivery networks and cloud providers reluctant to see this kind of data made available?
A : We've been fortunate to find partners who recognize the benefits
of transparency. In many cases, we've been able to help them improve
the quality of their services.
Q : Do you allow organizations to maintain various degrees of control over their data?
A : Absolutely. We differentiate between 'public' data, which is
anonymized and aggregated across all of our customers' traffic, and
'private' data, which is collected by a single customer, and available
only to them.
Q : So, how do you determine who's the 'best' provider for a particular location?
A : We don't. Our customers do. Our goal is simply to provide a
'performance ecology' which can facilitate the widest possible range of
business requirements. The real value of the Cedexis collective
intelligence platform is that it allows customers to develop their own
context around the data, and to make that data actionable however they
see fit.
Q : So, are you doing some kind of bandwidth brokering or CDN aggregation?
A : No, not at all. Load-balancing between CDN providers is one of the ways
in which customers can utilize our platform, but it is not our primary
focus. In order to maintain our role as a neutral 3rd party, Cedexis
does not provide or re-sell any CDN services.
Q : Headquarters in Oregon, clients in Paris, developers in
Thailand, partners from Russia to Australia... what's the deal with you
guys?
A : In today's cloud economy, global connections are more important
than geographic boundaries. Like our clients, we believe strongly in
acting globally.
